We are currently conducting an online campaign for Invest Barbados' trip to Midem. Invest Barbados is working with the Association Of Music Entrepreneurs(Barbados) (A.M.E. to send 8 delegates to the 2010 Midem Music Conference in Cannes, France. The delegation is made up of 2 representatives from Invest Barbados and 6 Music Entrepreneurs who are members of the A.M.E. They are as follows -

This campaign is designed to provide online exposure for the delegates and the Barbados 2010 Midem Showcase before, during and after the conference.  The Barbados 2010 Midem Showcase is an invitation social, business networking affair with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres for the invited guests. The featured act none other than the beautiful Rosemary Phillips, who has appeared in numerous festivals across the Caribbean.

Invest Barbados Goals and Objectives For Midem 2010

Our strategic plan is to approach MIDEM 2010 as a private/public sector initiative to build international competitiveness in the local music industry and to position Barbados as a desirable location providing a range of business and wealth management solutions to the entertainment sector.  As a catalyst organisation, Invest Barbados will play the role of facilitator and encourage the individuals and companies in the sector to develop their businesses for export, promotion and investment in the global music market.

The primary objectives of Invest Barbados in supporting this delegation would be to:

  • Provide local music industry practitioners with an opportunity to network with global counterparts, senior music label executives and music industry specialists with a view to building strategic alliances which could result in publishing, distribution, recording and performing/touring opportunities;
  • Facilitate the earning of foreign exchange through direct sales and negotiated contracts for Barbadian services;
  • Attract international business and joint ventures by raising the profile of Barbados in the international market as an excellent recording location with professional facilities, as well as a source for high quality music production services and  artiste management services;
  • Create promotional opportunities, increase visibility and gain international exposure for indigenous professionals, and improve Barbados’ global market reach;
  • Build the infrastructure necessary to promote growth for local service providers in the music sector and for Barbados’ music industry in general.
  • Present Barbados’ entire value proposition in international business to a captive audience of high net worth individuals connected to the entertainment industry.

We erected www.BarbadosAtMusicExpos.com to be the hub for all the information relating to this trip and future trips for Midem and other Music Expos (e.g.South By South West Conference). This site is driven by a blog which will be used to showcase delegates, provide updates on special events such as the Midem Showcase 2010. The blog will also allow for a cross section of players in the Music Industry around the world to share their ideas, thoughts and perspectives on how the Music Industry and Barbados. We expect that this will be able to spark enlightening conversations which might happen on or off the site as all articles and content can be easily shared. We have also set up @BimAtMusicExpos twitter account to allow for micro blogging and quick dissemination of information or updates.

We would like to thank Invest Barbados for working with us on this project. We trust that this trip will be s successful one and we look forward to being able to continue this project and watch the BarbadosAtMusicExpos.com evolve into an archive of the exploits of Invest Barbados and AME Delegates at various Music Expos.
